All photographs by Apple Tree Studios are copyrighted by the photographer. This certifies that the photographer is the creator of the images, for purposes of attribution.

Assignment photographs are those created specifically for and at the request of a commercial client. The client has "right of first refusal" to buy a specific number of photographs taken on assignment. Any photos not purchased by the client may become stock photographs in the photographer's portfolio.

Assignment photographs purchased by a client may be used in whatever way the client sees fit, including commercial uses. The client may freely copy any photographs they purchase.

The master image files may or may not be included as deliverables in a specific assignment package. If not included in the initial delivery, they are available later for a nominal fee.

The photographer reserves the right to use any and all images taken on assignment, as examples of past work, in a sample portfolio. These images will not be sold, but may be shown to other prospective clients.

All prints are normally labeled with a copyright notice in the margin or on the back. (Note that photographs are implicitly copyrighted even in the absence of such marking.) Photographs are routinely registered by the photographer with the US Copyright Office.
